ABOUT BON MARCHE
We love our customers. They make it possible to support families in two countries, spanning nearly 9400 miles apart, Sonoma in California and Rwanda in Africa.
Your generous support of our thrift store provides our nonprofit organization with the funds to continue our essential work in Rwanda, building vital health clinics and gardens, and in Sonoma, offering charitable support to our local community.
Because of you, we can fight chronic malnutrition and starvation in children in Rwanda, while providing our neediest children in Sonoma with clothing and the things that make their house a home. Countless others receive your generosity, and we thank you for it.
Bon Marche Thrift Store has partnered with Gardens for Health
International, a U.S. based nonprofit organization that seeks to provide
sustainable agricultural solutions to the problem of chronic childhood malnutrition. Each time you shop at Bon Marche Thrift Store, you provide the funds to help GHI continue their critical work, teaching families and communities how to use food as medicine. You really make it possible.
PROBLEM:
The majority of the World's poor are farmers, yet millions are malnourished. In Rwanda, this disconnect between agriculture and nutrition is striking: 80% of families grow food for a living, yet 35% of young children are chronically malnourished. The simple concept that food alone does not equal good nutrition is at the heart of our mission.
SOLUTION:
Gardens for Health tackles the root causes of malnutrition, equips families with seeds, skills, and knowledge to create vegetable gardens, prepare balanced meals, and keep children healthy. The Transformative impact is possible by investing in the nutrition of mothers and young children, since well-nourished children get sick less often, perform better in school, and are more likely to escape poverty.

LOVE IT!
Love this Thrift Store! We were helped by Alex. He was so helpful in helping us find what we were looking for. We had been running all over town looking for an obscure costume for a party; we wish we had come here first!
